Miao Hui 2013 welcomes auspicious CNY with Gangnam style

Held especially for the upcoming Chinese New Year, the Miao Hui or Temple Fair 2013 saw thousands of consumers attending two colossal events at Dou Mu Gong Temple in Ipoh on 2 February and in Butterworth on 3 February.

The Temple Fair this year was yet another successful event sponsored for the 5th time by Carlsberg Malaysia and jointly organised by Chinese dailies, Sin Chew Jit Poh and Guang Ming Daily.

At both temples, the magnificent Carlsberg Tree of Abundance took centre stage, forming an enormous queue of consumers waiting for their turn to try their luck at the wishing well. While some were queuing at the wishing well, others were greeted by MD Soren Ravn who was giving out Big Ang Pows.

To heighten the excitement, a series of performances were featured, including dynamic duo sisters, Summer Grace who performed a series of modern and evergreen medleys alongside various other singers.

As beer sponsor, consumers were able to chill out at a specially arranged Carlsberg beer garden which was equipped with redemption counters and game stations. For every purchase of six cans of Carlsberg beer, they were entitled to redeem one game session of the Drunk Man or every purchase of one carton of Carlsberg beer entitled them to five game sessions. Lucky consumers who hit the target of the Drunk Man game were rewarded with a collector’s item of the miniature Tree of Abundance.

Soon, the event came to an end but was given a bang for its 2013 Miao Hui. MD Soren who was accompanied by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and VIPs, stepped up on stage and joined fellow dancers to perform the K-Pop sensation, Gangnam Style dance.
